Amundi is the biggest European-headquartered asset manager and became the continent's second-largest ETF issuer after acquiring Lyxor. That merger left an unusually broad but sometimes untidy range: two heritage product lines, both physical and swap-based funds, and a long tail of very cheap Prime trackers. The Prime series undercuts almost everyone on headline TER for world and S&P 500 exposure, and Amundi's synthetic S&P 500 funds are often the most tax-efficient way for a European investor to hold US large caps, because swap structures can avoid US dividend withholding tax.

What to check first
Post-Lyxor consolidation means funds get renamed, merged or re-domiciled more often than at other issuers. Check the current ISIN and index, and remember that swap-based funds add counterparty exposure.
