Global X, owned by Korea's Mirae Asset, made its name in the US with covered-call income funds and narrow thematics, and has been porting that catalogue into UCITS wrappers for European investors. The covered-call range is the draw: it sells index options to convert equity upside into high monthly distributions, which suits investors who want cash flow now and accept capped growth. The thematic side is broad but deliberately narrow per fund, from uranium to defence tech.

What to check first
Covered-call funds structurally cap upside and often pay distributions partly out of capital — total return usually trails a plain index fund. Fees are higher than core trackers and several UCITS versions are young and small.
